Lecture: Perceiving the world

Hello everyone,

We are thrilled to invite you to our last lecture of the academic year, where we will explore how our minds perceive the world, focusing on the perception of time, music, and speech. ✨

This lecture will be a little different than before as we have a few surprises. For this special event we invited not two, but three speakers!

Our first lecturer will introduce us to listening effort and speech perception in challenging conditions, directing attention and detecting voices. If you have ever wondered how you can still understand your friends four beers deep in a crowded bar, this is the talk for you!

Our second lecturer is an expert on music perception. She will talk about how we perceive emotion in music, which musical features we associate with qualities of emotion and how this changes in response to hearing loss.

Our final speaker will talk about time perception and temporal cognition, unraveling how our minds make sense of the passing of time and how we can discover these mysteries through research.

When: Monday, May 12th from 17:00 to 19:30*
Where: Kouwerzaal (M.0161), Muntinggebouw
Cost: FREE for VIP members, €1 for non-members

Do not forget to sign up using the link below. We are excited to spend a fun evening with you! 💫
