Hi everyone!
My name is Kiko and I am 20 years old. I’m originally from Cascais, a beach town 20 minutes away from Lisbon, but I’ve been living in Groningen for the past two years. I am very happy to be able to say that I am the Chair of the 45th Board of VIP this year.
In my free time, you’ll definitely find me cooking in the kitchen or dancing all night long at a festival with friends. Besides cooking and festivals (which take up most of my free time), I love to go to the cinema and chill at the beach. Although chilling at the beach is hard here in Groningen, I make sure to compensate when I go back home.
My journey in VIP has been quite prominent, having been in a committee and structures for the past two years. In my first year, I did Promotion in the First Year Committee, as well as being a First Year Representative. In my second year, I was the Chair of the Dies Committee, and continued representing the students by being a Second Year Representative. Having experience in social and academic bodies of VIP made me realize how much I love being active within this association and ultimately (to the surprise of almost no one) made me apply for Board this year.
As the Chair of VIP I am responsible for keeping a general overview of the association and making sure everything is running smoothly. Besides implementing our policy plan throughout the year, I will also be in charge of chairing our meetings, as well as maintaining group cohesion between the Board.
I can’t wait for this year and I’m so excited to work with you all!! I know for sure we will make unforgettable memories together and have a very fun year! :)
Hey everyone!!
My name is Inês, I am 20 years old, and originally from a town called Matosinhos in Porto, Portugal. I moved to Groningen a little over two years ago for my studies, and it has been an unforgettable adventure! I have grown so much, gotten to know so many wonderful people, and had amazing experiences. A big contributor to this was VIP and its community, which is why I am so happy to be able to say that I am the Secretary and Commissioner of Diversity and Inclusion of the 45th Board of VIP this year!
If I’m not living at the VIP Hok, you can probably find me living at my dance studio. Dancing has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and it is still a huge passion of mine to this day. I’m also very connected to music, it’s rare you’ll catch me without something playing. I also love singing and basically anything artsy or creative, whether that’s crocheting, drawing (as best as I can), taking pictures, or just making something new. Beyond that, I love hanging out with my friends, whether it’s a chill coffee catch-up session, having some good food, or dancing away at a fun party. I’m also a big fan of reading, and on sunny days (when the sun decides to come out…), you’ll definitely catch me outside enjoying the beautiful weather!
My VIP journey began in my first year, when I applied for Year Representation. I wanted to take an active role within VIP, and that decision led me to where I am today. During that year, I got to represent my fellow students and participate in many VIP events. In my second year, I continued with Year Representation while also joining the Media Structure, adding a creative part to my involvement. The more I got involved and bonded with people, the more I realised how much I loved the community and friendships I'd built, making a Board year feel like the perfect next step, so I went for it!
As the Secretary and Commissioner of Diversity and Inclusion, I take care of minutes during meetings, manage communication such as email and mail, and oversee member administration. Basically, I’m the one making sure nothing important gets lost and the keeper of documents. But my job isn’t just paperwork. I also get to work on new ideas and initiatives to make our association even more inclusive, often collaborating with others in working groups. On top of that, I also take part in organising the Galant Gala among other collaborations, and serve as commissioner for three committees!
I am very excited for this upcoming year, getting to know all of you better and making amazing memories! I am sure we will have so much fun. If you have any questions, or just want to chat, feel free to come by or reach out :))
Hey everyone!
My name is Noa, I am 21 years old and I am originally from Groningen. Even though I have lived here all my life, I’ve been discovering a whole different side of Groningen during the past two years, namely the student life. So far, I’ve really enjoyed being a student in Groningen. So much even, that I have decided to take a gap year and prolong my student experience. VIP is a big reason the past two years have been so enjoyable for me, which hopefully is also the case for many of you. Because of this, I’m incredibly proud I can call myself the Treasurer of the 45th Board of VIP.
In my life, no day looks the same. However, a common factor in almost all of my days is some form of social interaction. This can look like meeting up with a friend for some coffee, improving my strength by going climbing or letting all my energy out on the dancefloor in a club. When I do have a moment by myself, I like to be busy with a creative outlet, lose myself in a book or watch low quality, high entertainment tv shows.
My introduction to VIP was the DIES week and camp, where I met my closest friends to this day. I immediately got excited, joined the First Year Representation and went to a lot of activities. I got to know the lovely community of VIP quite well. In my second year I wanted to do more with VIP, so next to the Second Year Representation I joined the Study Structure. I really love VIP and its community, like to know the ins and outs of the association and am ambitious to improve VIP, which is why I decided to apply for a Board year.
As the Treasurer my main job is keeping track of the finances within the association. This includes making the budget, paying the bills and bookkeeping. Next to this, I have several collaborations with other associations and am in charge of three committees.
I am incredibly excited to have an amazing time together with you all in the upcoming year. If you have any questions or are just in for a fun chat, don’t hesitate to come by the hok (and drink some free coffee or tea).
Hey hey,
My name is Melle Beetge and I am half Dutch and half South-African, however I have also lived in Switzerland and England. I always joke that I am neither international or Dutch as I truly wouldn’t be able to say which one I feel like more. The last two years I have been lucky to call Groningen my new home, and I am really happy to have made the choice to study here!!! Not only do I like the city, but VIP has really made my whole university experience so much better, which is why I am very happy to be your commissioner of internal affairs.
I have been active in VIP for two years now, in my first year I had the position of acquisition in the BSS congress committee and last year I was the secretary of the DIES committee. This committee is where I found my best friends and ultimately made me realise that I really enjoy organising and being responsible for something important, which then led me to apply to the board!
Apart from VIP, I love hanging out with my friends, getting a coffee, having dinner and drinks in the evening or going to festivals. You can also very often find me shopping, whether its online or in real life I will spend all my money and time buying clothes. I also love spending time in the kitchen to bake (definitely not to cook) funny birthday cakes for my friends.
My role as commissioner of internal affairs means that I am responsible for the (active) members of VIP, meaning that I am the commissioner of most of the committees! creating the monthly newsletters and organising all the active member activities!!! I am super excited for this Board year, all the activities and to meet you all throughout the year!!
Hi everyone!
My name is Marit, and I am the Commissioner of External Affairs of the 45th board of VIP this year. I am 21 years old and originally from Meppel, but I’ve been enjoying living in Groningen for the past three years.
In my free time, I love spending time with friends. Whether that’s catching up over coffee or dancing the night away, I enjoy having people around me. I also like to stay active: you’ll often find me on my racing bike, going for a run, or at the gym.
As Commissioner of External Affairs, I’m responsible for maintaining contact with VIP’s partners and the faculty. A big part of my role is acquisition, meaning I work to secure financial support for our association. In addition, I oversee the year representations and contribute to improving education through meetings with the faculty.
Back in 2022–2023, I was already active in a Year Representation, and I’m very excited to now take on a bigger role as part of the board this year. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. I’m always happy to help!
